I’ll be speaking at the Evolving Faith Conference, a gathering of mostly progressive Christians, but also atheists, agnostics, and other folks trying to find their place spiritually—”wanderers”—co-founded by the late great Rachel Held Evans, and run now by co-founder SARAH BESSEY and JEFF CHU, both fabulous writers and humans. It’s a space that I think some of y’all might really dig. They have scholarships (still? I think?).

There are a few things that aren’t ready to post yet but I can tell you that I’ll be in Brooklyn on 11/17 and that there are a few other events that will also be happening at other times.

I probably won’t likely be traveling a ton more than what you see; it’s probable that a few more IRL gigs will be posted, but I won’t be doing one of those hardcore jaunts from city to city. Just can’t. For a bunch of reasons.

Anyway.

Something else I’m doing that I think will resonate with a lot of you:

The idea of collective trauma is, and can be, really overwhelming. Obviously.

The Collective Trauma Summit is free and brings a lot of amazing people together who ask hard questions & bring ideas about how to heal on the individual and collective level.

We have to talk about collective trauma events, the pandemic, the climate emergency, systemic racism, and intergenerational trauma--and we have to remember that WHAT IS NOW IS NOT WHAT MUST BE.

So that’s a lot of stuff!

I hope you’ll join me somewhere along the way. Because the process is, after all, so critical.

It’s about learning (all of us, together) how to be braver and more honest with ourselves, figuring out how to face who we have been as individuals, as a community, as a culture and as a nation—centering those most harmed in every situation and to do the work of healing, repair and transformation that must be done in order to create a more whole tomorrow—one with more room, care, love and concern for all of us.
